Production Diary, Week 3
We planned what props we need and where we can find them to help us when we start filming so we can get them ready before we start filming. I learnt how to communicate with the team in order to know what I must do but also know what scenes we are going to film first. I was an actor, so I had to listen to the director and producer to know what I had to do such as when we were doing a close-up on my hand whilst I was pressing the button for the lift I had to make sure that I got the timing right. I will need to develop more on my acting skills and be more confident so that I don’t get nervous whilst doing a scene, but I also learnt about the different types of angles and shots in filmmaking in more depth.
We planned what items we need for the film and they went through what the film is about to help me understand as I missed the first session. I have learnt that in our short film we can have a lot of shots and angles to make it more interesting. I think I’ve worked quite well with others as I have asked a lot of questions to make sure that I know what I’m doing but also to know the roles of the others in the group because communication is very important whilst making a film but also in the planning of the film so that everyone knows what they are doing. I need to develop on my camera skills so that when it comes to be the camera women for the short film that we’ll be doing at the end of the program.

Production Diary Week 5
This week we just prepared for our film shoot day by making sure that we had filled out the shot lists form, hazards worksheet and also timed how long it work take us to shoot each scene just to get an estimate time, so on the day of the shoot we know how long each scene would be. However, before we did this we had a small acting master class where we had to be a character from a scene from a play which was set in 1883, but we also wrote down where we thought our chosen would be from such as poor part of London or the rich area from the character they played.

Shoot day diary
We filmed our short film today which was a good session as we finished filming earlier than expected which was good because we discussed our strengths and weaknesses and what we learnt from working with someone who is professional.
I learnt that being a cameraman/women is harder than it looks because you need to know all the button on it and what they do but also how to get the perfect angles for the shots because I was working closely with the director and producer because they had made a list for the shots list which has what type of shots that they want for a scene. I also learnt a lot about the camera that they use to produce films as I didn’t know how to use it before as I hadn’t used one before because the one I use is for pictures and it’s quite simple to use.
I think that I worked well with others because I listened to what the producer and director said and told me for the different scenes that we shot which was very important because we needed to get the shots perfectly to make it look how we wanted it to look like when we planned it. I need to develop my camera skills more as I wasn’t very good, but I learnt a lot about myself and the camera whilst shooting our film, but I also need to develop my observing skills.
