03. Working Relationships

3.1 Explain the importance of teamwork when working on a film production

Teamwork is very important when working on a film production because they must work together for a period of time so that they can finish the film that they are working on in time for the deadline but also so it can be great and how they wanted it to be when they planned it before they started filming. We had camera, sound, director, producer, script writer, props manager, editor and actor that worked very well with each other because some of them had to have an extra job as we were a small group.

3.2 Identify the qualities needed to work well with others

They work together to make sure that everything turns out how they wanted it but also how they had planned out such as the sound, lighting and camera shots also the angles. We acted out how long it would take us to film each shots when it came to film day for the shot-list we wrote down so when it came to filming day, in the shot-list we also wrote down what angles we wanted each scenes to have so that we didn’t have to come up with them on the day of filming. However, if there isn’t good teamwork the members or staff on the film production won’t be able to communicate effectively as they won’t be to work together as a team which is important because their roles work together to make the film great at the end. Teamwork could have been better in our film production when we were filming the different shots and we weren’t agreeing on the shots and angles but other than that our teamwork was very good because when I struggled with the camera they all helped me and also with the tripods.

3.3 – Describe how you worked with others collaboratively on your film production

We filmed our short film today which was a good session as we finished filming earlier than expected which was good because we discussed our strengths and weaknesses and what we learnt from working with someone who is professional.

I learnt that being a cameraman/women is harder than it looks because you need to know all the button on it and what they do but also how to get the perfect angles for the shots because I was working closely with the director and producer because they had made a list for the shots list which has what type of shots that they want for a scene. I also learnt a lot about the camera that they use to produce films as I didn’t know how to use it before as I hadn’t used one before because the one I use is for pictures and it’s quite simple to use.

I think that I worked well with others because I listened to what the producer and director said and told me for the different scenes that we shot which was very important because we needed to get the shots perfectly to make it look how we wanted it to look like when we planned it. I need to develop my camera skills more as I wasn’t very good, but I learnt a lot about myself and the camera whilst shooting our film, but I also need to develop my observing skills.
